Hartwigs artistic fascination lives in the world between visual reality and illusion. His work shows an atmosphere with fragments of color; warm light, cool reflections and sometimes the presence of human figures.

An interpretation of reality.

Many sections of the paintings are rendered in a largely abstract style. When zooming in on the painting’s details, the image falls apart into abstract areas of color.

Besides autonomic paintings, Peter Hartwig made large-scale ceiling and wall paintings, on both independent and commissioned projects with companies as ING Bank and Holland America Line Cruise Ships.
